What Santa Means to Me!

 

Santa means many different things to many people depending on the culture in which one was raised-if that is a good choice of words RAISED.

 

Especially here in America we are all immigrants or descendants of Immigrants (except of course for the only true Americans, the native Indians who inhabited this land before our Ancestors arrived).

 

And, with these immigrants came the many cultures of their native land.

 

As we are progressing in time our cultures are integrating nicely as the American culture yet each culture maintains those cherished values of their homeland so special to them especially at this time of the year.

 

Santa Clause-so where did he come from and why might he be so special so magical?

 

Santa Clause came to us as a Christian Saint Nicholas whose origin is in Europe at the time of the first settlers. (1)

 

Over time he has morphed into what we deem Santa Clause magically streaming from roof top to roof top riding a sleigh filled with toys for all girls and boys and drawn by Reindeer flying through the night’s sky on Christmas eve to magically go down a chimney of each home of each and every child to deliver that very special gift to them. WOW! How magical is all of that?

 

Do I hear Santa on my roof? Is it time for him to come?

 

If I am awake I will not see him, if I am asleep I will not see him. What do I do?

 

What I know is that in the morning my present will be under my tree-regardless! How Magical is that?

 

And how is it that he remembers all those girls and boys especially that very special gift that they want and will cherish?

 

It is the magic of this season and all that is cherished that Santa means to me!

It is lonely at the top!

 

 

  • Eggs over easy.

 

    • Eggs over medium.

 

      • Eggs over hard.

 

        • Scrambled is better?

 

 

Decisions, decisions!

 

Entrepreneurs constantly face daunting challenges. Hopefully not about breakfast!

 

There isn’t a day that goes by that an entrepreneur isn’t faced with making a business decision that may offend some and please others. The decision usually is made in the company’s best interest because it is the survival of the business that will perpetuate the very existence of that business and solidify the jobs for workers.

 

Of course consideration must be given to individual team players as well but overall the leader must know what the overall optimal decision must be and one must toughen the skin so to speak for the betterment of the business. And, sometimes that may be an unpopular decision but a fair and just one as well.

 

Too often an entrepreneur will find himself in a lonely place fending off the wolves that may want to harm his company. He must be steadfast and certain in his decision making and not waver. His workers must see him as a pillar of strength and above human frailties because it is he that they rely upon to run the business smoothly and profitably in order to secure their jobs.

 

Especially in smaller companies, the entrepreneur is the sole executive with no one else to turn for advice or guidance. This executive must show strength and determination. As the leader of this company one must not hesitate nor waver in their determination less his subordinates become insecure in their jobs and loose trust in their leader.

 

The result of confused or threatened employees is low morale and reduced or shoddy production-one to avoid at all cost.

 

So when one needs reassurance and support and he is at the top, where does he get support?

 

It can be very lonely at the top but, if one has complete faith, decisiveness and self assurance, being lonely at the top one can experience a very peaceful existence!

THIS MAGICAL SEASON

 

 It is that time of the year that our thoughts mostly go to our loved ones and of cherished times past. We share with our families and special someone the warmth and glories of this special time of the year the magic of the season.

And for some perhaps new precedence will be set for future experiences and commitments they will share together and with others.

For some it is the spirit of giving, for others it is the sharing of the season and others still an opportunity to be with others to share with them their joys, dreams and happiness this special time of the year.

Some may revisit in memory a very special time and place of long ago that filled their hearts with love and joy and perhaps now they may share this with others as well. Others my revisit a painful past and wish to share joy with others so they may not have such an experience.

This is the season of giving when people feel the need to fill their hearts with love and share that love with mankind by sharing and caring. What better gift could there be?

Some may travel far, others just next door but to share with others the spirit of the season fills our hearts with love and commitment like no other time of the year. It is this holiday season that is cherished by all and shared with mankind.

Oh yes, and this is the time of the year for festivities when we share with our loved ones the spirit of this season.

What are you sharing with others this time of the year?

Could it be the anger you will leave behind when you decide to show your love for others?

Could it be your commitment to that special person or cause that you have neglected for so long?

Could it be that you have decided that love and caring for others is far more important than

self-elation and to benefit mankind is a far greater value to give than any present on earth?

No matter what your motive for sharing with others this very special time of the year you must agree it is the magic of this season that will move you to reflect, give of yourself and commit to mankind.

BUSINESS, LET’S KEEP EMOTION OUT OF THIS!

 

If one starts a business to MAKE MONEY they will fail! PERIOD! Why? Because the main focus or purpose for being in business is a selfish one and, should that thought process prevail, there is no reason for someone to do business with you.

Ask yourself this question; “Why should someone do business with you?” Difficult to answer isn’t it?

If you are in business to take my money I am not interested in that. If you will provide a service or a product to me that will add value to my life, I will pay what you ask. Not quite the same thought process wouldn’t you agree?

Of course in the process of continuing to offer value to your customers you must include your entire operations and employees. They must buy into that principle and of course that requires good management-good communications and showing value to employees and customers.

And, don’t forget the economic impact your business has on the community.

Being a business owner or CEO, executive requires one to wear a crown of compassion but not one of selfishness

Ideally does your company not exist to:

1. Offer benefits and services to your customers creating the WHY they do business with you?

2. Does your company not exist to provide jobs and security for your workers and their families?

3. And, with good management does your company not exist to provide economic stability in your community?

I know that putting these values first will perpetuate my company’s existence. And, isn’t that what I am in business for?

Why do we practice Call Reluctance?

 

Clearly as sales representatives we recognize the need to be in front of others to deliver our message and make that sale! We truly believe that our product or service is of value to our customers and will benefit them greatly. Yet, we hesitate to contact our prospect.

So, why is it that we hesitate to contact our prospect and tell them the good news that we must share with them? Why do we hesitate to demonstrate the value of our product or service to our prospect? Why do we hold-back from making that presentation, the telephone call or knock on the door to our prospects chamber?

Could it be because of FEAR, or more specifically the fear of REJECTION?

I know of no one who likes rejection. Rejection hurts. It can be humiliating and downgrading.

As we allow this fear of rejection to take over our lives, we may suffer respectability and financially because of it. We allow a FEAR to control our lives and income. How stupid is that?

I believe that if we reason with the WHY of rejection we will see that it is not WE who was rejected rather we were made the recipient of some other action-an action of which we have no immediate understanding. Yet it is our reaction to this perceived rejection that keeps us from making that very important next call. Hum!
